who we are

West 3012 Business Association is a member-run organisation representing businesses of every size and type in the 3012 postcode. We were founded on a simple belief: that every business in this postcode deserves a voice, regardless of whether it's a solo home operation, a market stall, a corner shop, or a large employer.

Our committee is made up of local business owners and operators who give their time voluntarily. We're accountable to our members, not to council or government, which means we can speak freely on your behalf.

Meet the Team

  • Reem Sweid

    PRESIDENT

    Reem Sweid is a West Footscray local, community advocate, and the founder of The Chestnut Tree Bookshop and Cafe on Barkly Street. Born in the US to Syrian parents and raised in London and the Middle East, Reem has called West Footscray home for over a decade. She holds a PhD from Deakin University and spent much of her career as a social policy researcher, before taking a leap during the pandemic and opening the neighbourhood bookshop she always felt was missing. As president of West 3012, Reem brings that same community-first spirit to the local business strip -- a genuine belief that when people and businesses feel connected to their neighbourhood, everyone thrives.

  • Emily Re

    COMMITTEE MEMBER

    Emily Re is a proud West Footscray local with over 18 years in the area and deep roots in the Inner-West from her early career as a primary school teacher in Williamstown. Her professional journey includes teaching experiences in the UK and at the Australian International School of Hong Kong, providing her with a unique global perspective. Now a mother of four and an active volunteer at the Maidstone United Soccer Club, Emily is deeply committed to the growth and wellbeing of our local community. Several years ago she founded her own leadership development consultancy, building upon the invaluable mentorship of her late father and organisational development expert, Robert Re. Driven by a passion for connection, Emily looks forward to leveraging her skills to strengthen and support West 3012.

Who can join?

West 3012 is for the people who make this neighbourhood tick. Whether you're a retailer on the strip, a tradie, a home-based business, or a wholesaler working behind the scenes, if you're registered in 3012 , you're welcome here.

Not based in 3012 but love what we're building here? If your business operates on the edges of our community, serves a majority of customers in 3012, or has a strong connection to the area, we'd still love to have you involved. Membership for businesses outside the postcode is considered on a case-by-case basis by the committee -- just get in touch and we'll figure it out together.
